Mark Whiteley is a Singer / Songwriter & events organiser from New Brighton (near Liverpool), England.
Most of Mark's childhood was the 1960's , and he grew up listening to The Beatles, Hollies, The Kinks, Rolling Stones and all the bubble gum and flower power music of the late 1960's. … in many cases, perfect 3 minute pop songs. The desire to create catchy pop music comes through strongly on Mark's debut album 'Airbrush Hollywood' ; some songs are clearly throwbacks to the catchy songs of the 60's and 70's. Mark strongly believes that hooks in songs are absolutely crucial; he wanted to create music that listeners will be attracted to and remember, after a first listen.
The album 'Airbrush Hollywood' was released on 15th August 2015 on Spinnup Records (a division of Universal Music).
It's available to download via this website and at www.amazon.co.uk and on i tunes. Tracks can also be played on You Tube (search for Airbrush Hollywood). It is also available to hear instantly if you have Spotify - just search on Spotify for Airbrush Hollywood.
Mark started songwriting for the album in 2010, and it became a reality thanks to the help of many talented musicians from the Wirral, UK area, co-songwriting, playing guitars , bass, sax, harmonica, and piano. Mandi Gibbons (now mandi Fisher) provided excellent backing vocals on some tracks ; Mandi appeared in 2019 on the BBC Voice talent show 'All Together Now' and has worked with several industry names, such as Lewis Capaldi.
The album was recorded at a number of small studios on the Wirral, Merseyside, UK, but predominately at FYNK studios in Wallasey UK. Seven of the songs are licensed to Emerge Music Media UK, a division of RAK records London. These tracks are played around the world in Airport Lobbies, Hotels, large retail stores and other media outlets.
Mark was also behind the 2014 Charity CD project 'Blue Skies' for which 18 Liverpool / Wirral based songwriters added a song each.
Mark continues to be involved in Open Mic sessions in his home town of New Brighton UK, and elsewhere, as an organiser and performer, manages music events in the local community, and plays Sax and Acoustic Guitar in the Wirral based band Marshall Hearts and the duo Madmen .
